She gives us tips on how to go about the game and what things should one keep in mind while picking up a wedding invite design.
Could you tell us about the latest wedding invitation trends? How have the tastes of your clients evolved over the years when it comes wedding invites.
H.S: Trends are actually very subjective to the family and the couple. Where for some quirky invites may work, others prefer formal minimal invites where some want to go with fun floral invites. So for us, all styles are always in trend :). However, clients’ tastes have moved away from loud ostentatious invites to simple and elegant invites. They’re also willing to experiment more with colors, themes, and even the wedding favor to go along with the invite.
Tell us a little about your process of making customized wedding invitations?
H.S: Almost all our invites are customized to the client’s needs. We do have a collection of invites for them to browse through so they can decide on elements like paper texture, size etc. Once the basic details are sorted a custom invite is designed with the client’s theme in mind. A lot of our clients are living overseas, with them we do the entire design process via emails, including the custom designed invitation cards.
With so many invitation services available what makes you different?
H.S: I would say that our signature style is, “Simple, Elegant, & Beautiful Designs” all our creations revolve around these three core principles.
Another very important aspect of Design by Harpriya Singh is the personal interaction with all the clients. What helps in making us different is that we work on quality over quantity. I personally meet the couple and family, so there is no gap in communication. I like to meet the bride or the groom to understand a bit about the couple & their personality and try & reflect that through our designs.
You are known for your personalized themes and distinctive details, tell us what inspires you to create these special invites?
H.S: My inspiration for my designs is all around me. I take inspiration from nature, the way a flower looks against a bright blue sky, the riot of colors on the streets, from the state of mind I am in and most importantly from the story behind the couple whose wedding invite we are designing.
What are a few factors that one should keep in mind while getting their wedding invitation designed?
H.S: Where and when the event is – fresh spring themes or deep winter shades or a destination wedding – should reflect in the invite. It’s a must to go through guest lists and counts several times and always order a margin of extra cards (most families run short of invites just as the wedding is approaching!) It’s also important to involve the elders of the family and get their opinion on text, family names to include etc.

One of the most important aspects of your wedding is looking and feeling your best. After all, a happy bride is a beautiful one! So it’s no surprise that bridal makeup artists are much sought after – everyone wants to look fantastic on their big day. We had the chance to chat to makeup artist and bridal beauty expert, Sabrina Suhail. As someone who has catered to the whims of many brides, Sabrina is a fount of knowledge, and we’re thrilled that she has shared some of her cosmetic wisdom with us.
Here are her top wedding beauty hacks:
According to Sabrina, one of the first (and most important!) things that the bride has to set up are appointments with makeup artists. Their services are so in demand that bookings typically have to be made six to eight months before the wedding.
Give It A Try
Don’t select a makeup artist based on hearsay or reputation alone. Schedule appointments with a few beauty experts to compare services, rates, and aesthetics. Choose someone whose sensibilities gel with yours – you want to be as relaxed as possible on your big day.
Blame It On The Weatherman?
Sabrina says, “Considering summers are hotter, more humid and sometimes even very dry in the south of India, the best hairstyles would be up-dos.”
Cutting Edge Of Beauty
“From what I have recently discovered, more and more clients want to look like they have walked out of a magazine. Simple drapes, pale lips, high contoured cheeks, and bronzed highlighted cheek bones. Combed, groomed eyebrows and a deep smoky or a completely no-eyeshadow, lots of mascara look,” says Sabrina, explaining the latest in bridal beauty trends.
Look For All Seasons
Sometimes the simplest looks are the most effective ones. Sabrina says, “The easiest and quickest is to carry a mascara to open those eyes. Some blush, just enough on the apples of the cheek to look like you have been standing in the sun for just a little too long, and a tinted lip balm. This look will take you far!”
There is nothing quite like hydration to give your skin a healthy glow, and Sabrina is quick to point out the benefits, “What I suggest to all my clients is that they drink 2 litres of water a day. Keep in mind that too much water intake can lead to dehydration by washing out important minerals and vitamins.”
Work It Off
Exercise is usually a big part of the bridal preparation process, but Sabrina says it has a huge impact not only on your weight but on your skin. She says, “I’ve noticed that all my clients that have a regular workout routine have to do less for their skin before the wedding. Stick to a high protein, no or low sugar, no carb diet. Do this for 4 months before the wedding and you’ll have the best skin you have ever had.”
Building The Right Foundation
There’s more to makeup than covering up imperfections, and it’s important to observe the nuances of applying it. A makeup essential that every bride must have is the right shade of foundation. “The only important thing in makeup is getting the correct skin tone foundation. Anyone can do a smokey eye or slap on a colored lipstick. But to get the foundation right is the toughest!” says Sabrina.
From choosing the right products to finding a makeup artist to work with (who understands your needs) – there’s a lot of planning that goes into a wedding. Good makeup is hard to come by and expert makeup artists tougher still! That’s why we’re so glad that Sabrina chose to share her insider wisdom with us. We can’t wait to see what’s next for her and for our brides-to-be!
When two scions of two industrial dynasties decide to tie the knot, it’s only natural that the wedding is a lavish affair. Wedding Wishlist gives you an insight into #KeshVee Wedding, the wedding of the year!
However, Keshav and Veena’s picture perfect wedding at Taj Faluknama Palace, Hyderabad left the phrase ‘lavish’ in the dust. This five day extravaganza was the talk of the town and it will remain the benchmark for other big Indian weddings to measure against.
A Star-filled Extravaganza
Keshav’s parents, Aparna and Sanjay Reddy, were extremely involved in the wedding preparations. Sanjay conceptualized the events entirely and a team of organizers executed it. Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla were also part of the planning and resulting in a gorgeous aesthetic. The celebrations began with a traditional ceremony of Vedic chanting, where the guests bless the bride and groom. Technological goodies made the afterparty fun filled. From robots to video mapping – it was quite a night.
The sangeeth, which was the night after, was a glittering, sophisticated event, held at GMR grounds in Hyderabad. The star power at the event lit up the place almost as much as the actual lighting. The who’s who of Bollywood and Kollywood made appearances to congratulate the happy couple. Amongst the guests were Amitabh & Jaya Bachchan, Rekha, Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar & Twinkle Khanna, Rahul Bose, Shilpa Shetty, Sridevi, and Sunil Shetty. Superstar Rajnikanth represented Kollywood. To everyone’s delight, Ranveer Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez joined the family and friends of the couple and danced to a few songs.
After that, the Reddy family played host to a truly spectacular event at their home; With a 1600 strong guest list, this all-day event was carnival themed. It was a truly unique way for their friends and family to celebrate the union. With five restaurants and eight bars catering, there were a variety of foods and drinks to try. The mela-style event also featured games and photo booths – everything needed for some fun in the sun.
The Style Quotient
With Abu and Sandeep at the helm, it was only natural that the bride’s trousseau be elegant and feature intricate details. The brand is famous for marrying western-inspired silhouettes with Indian charm and detailing. Their influence was felt in every aspect of the wedding – from the decor to the ensembles. The mother of the groom sported the work of several other legendary designers such as Tarun Tahiliani, Anamika Khanna, Manish Malhotra & Bina Modi. She also went traditional with a twist – buying stunning Kanjivaram sarees and having Abu & Sandeep rework them into more contemporary looks.

This fairytale wedding has not only set new standards, but has clearly ended on a happy note. Congratulations to the newlyweds!! May your marriage be as wonderful and fruitful as your wedding day(s)!
If you’ve ever heard and sympathized with the phrase it’s never too late, then Deepika & Vishwanath’s (or DC and JC as they are affectionately called) story is one you’ll enjoy. This lovely couple has always had luck on their side – even in times of adversity.
How It All Began
These newlyweds were introduced by friends, and knew there was something special in the air right away. Vishwanath jokes that though Deepika kept him waiting for an hour at Amethyst at their first meeting, it was worth it; And the two of them are all set to start an all new journey together.
They were introduced to the concept of Wedding Wishlist by a friend, and were intrigued about the service. Though initially skeptical about how their friends & family would perceive it, they took a leap of faith & decided to give it a shot. Their gamble has more than paid off!
At Wedding Wishlist, we usually tell you to create and share your wishlist in advance to ensure that you reach everyone on your guest list and give them time to choose your present. However, this time we were working against the clock, and had only three days to set things in motion. Despite the last minute nature of the quest – Deepika and Vishwanath’s family and friends rose to the occasion and ensured that they received everything they wanted and more!
Let’s Give It A Shot
Deepika reached out to WWL three days before her big day and was unsure if it was worth creating and sharing a wishlist so close to the event. Luckily, she decided to take a chance on us.
By 12pm their wishlist was up, their Save The Date messages had been sent out, and people were already starting to investigate their registry. By the time the bride had finished putting on her mehendi, 5 gifts had already been purchased for the happy couple. Loved ones from all over the globe were delighting in the opportunity to send them something, and by the end of day 1, 8 or 9 gifts had been purchased.
The wishlist was so successful that they ended up adding more items to it. From a washing machine to travel vouchers, it was clear that everyone who received the list was keen on contributing to their futures. In fact, people were still buying presents on the day of their wedding, and now, three weeks later, they’re still receiving gifts.
Beating The Odds
Unfortunately, their wedding plans were set back by the Jallikattu protests in Chennai. Only half the invited guests made it to the wedding ceremony. Out of the 1000 people invited to their reception, only 300 made it to the venue. However, Deepika & Vishwanath didn’t allow this to ruin their day, they made the most of the situation and had a lovely intimate celebration.
The Unlikely Saving Grace
Wedding Wishlist was the unlikely hero of the day! Because of the troubled situation, very few people were able to purchase and give them presents. They only received 9 gifts on their actual wedding day. Thankfully, their friends and family more than made up for it on their online registry and Deepika & Vishwanath were able to leave for their honeymoon with that knowledge.
Once they got back from their getaway, WWL sent all the gifts over to their house. Gifts were beautifully wrapped and ready to be opened. They were surprised and thrilled with how practical and easy the service was to use. We at Wedding Wishlist are so glad that we got to contribute to their happiness, and helped make their experience a more memorable one. Thanks for letting us be a part of your journey, DC and JC!
There’s something to be said for finding the right person to share your life with. In Sudeeptha and Vishnu’s case, their paths crossed several times with hilarious consequences before they decided to make a go of it. Their journey together hasn’t always been easy, but this Wedding Wishlist couple are the real deal.
You’re The One That I Want
To paraphrase Shakespeare, the course of true love doesn’t always run smoothly. Vishnu says, “We could begin our story by telling you how we both knew that we were the respective ‘Ones’ for each other right from the start. We could tell you that it was love at first sight. We could tell you that ours was a beautiful romance, meant to be from the start. Of course, we would be lying through our teeth.”
Though they humorously tell friends and family that Vishnu had to ask her to marry him four times, there’s logic behind their laughter. Vishnu explains, “One of the things we both agree on is that marriage itself is a very grown up thought. I didn’t ask until I was sure I was ready, Sudeeptha did not agree until she was sure I was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Our friends all warned us that our lives were going to change, but when you meet the right person, you don’t mind that change. You don’t run away from it. You welcome it with open arms and walk into the next stage of adulthood hand in hand.”
What’s Love Got To Do With It?
Like any other couple, the two had to compromise on several things to make their relationship work. Vishnu elaborates, “Our relationship has had its rocky moments; we’ve had the traditional clashing mindsets and differing viewpoints on almost everything. Idealistic thoughts vs. more realistic ones, conforming to norms, strong individual likes and dislikes. Despite it all, as we sat through the wisecracks made by the pandits during the wedding ceremony, we both knew that we were embarking on our own little adventure and that it was going to be epic.”
With this strong foundation, it’s not surprising that they’re a practical couple. Their wishlist is a mix of fun decorative items and pragmatic purchases. However, there is no doubt that each piece will be used to make their new house a home.
My Wish Came True
Sudeeptha and Vishnu’s wishlist has everything required to set up a new home – from the TV (everyone needs some screen time) to the coffee maker (we all need that caffeine fix). They have favored practical items over luxury ones. Vishnu says, “Our Wedding Wishlist covered a few tools that we would need in our opening months as a married couple. We could have gone for holidays, expensive trinkets or vanity items. Instead, we put up items that we knew we would need, items which will be useful in our new lives together.”
What made them choose Wedding Wishlist to add to their happily ever after? The groom says, “We saw the Wishlist as a way to make sure that we got what we really wanted, a way for our friends and families to not have to rack their brains and end up buying us statuettes or dishes or crock pots – yes, we got many of those too. Wedding Wishlist helped us get what we want, and for that, we want to say a big thank you.”
Thank YOU for letting us be a part of your next big chapter, Sudeeptha and Vishnu. From all of us at Wedding Wishlist – Happy Valentine’s Month! May you have many more happy ones!
