Support migrant cancer affected children with monthly rations
Last audited December 2018
Cuddles Foundation provides holistic nutritional support to underprivileged children fighting cancer across India. Cuddles works with 33 government and charity cancer hospitals across 20 cities in India. In 19-20 they conducted over 1.8 lakh counsels, so that children can defeat cancer and go on to lead happy, healthy lives. Nutritionists are the backbone of the service provided by Cuddles. Trained at the best institutes of the country, they are carefully chosen for their knowledge, empathetic nature, and the ability to work with children and survive in tough conditions. They are then trained in paediatric oncology by some of the best oncologists in the country at TATA Memorial Hospital. A Cuddles nutritionist's work starts from assessing a child’s malnourishment level and medical condition and creating customised diet plans to monitoring progress and counselling mothers/caregivers. Using a multi-pronged approach of nutritional counseling and diet planning, meal supplementation, ration baskets, and hot meals, they tackle a simple but ignored aspect of a child’s successful recovery from cancer. Cuddles Foundation was recognized with the National Award for Child Welfare by the President of India in 2015-16.

Regular access to healthy and nutritious food,Support for mental, physical and psychological disorders
Cuddles foundation through this program works on providing holistic nutrition to underprivileged children from families that relocate for cancer treatment. Close to 90% of cancer affected children from a low socioeconomic background are malnourished at diagnosis. To access medical care parents relocate to cities to get their child treated. When in the city, they earn very meager incomes and end up living on footpaths or shelter homes with hardly any sustenance. Cuddles, through the nutritionist stationed at the hospital, understand whether a family has a place to stay and will provide a standard package of rations to a family of three. Families are supported for 3-6 months depending on the treatment and severity of the cycles of therapy. The families are given monthly ration supplies for a family of 3 including rice, all types of dal, oil, spices, flour, salt, among others Ration baskets are given in kind at the hospitals or through a coupon system with predetermined vendors. When you donate to the program, you will help provide the much-needed support to families of underprivileged children suffering from cancer.
