Access to livellihood opportuntities and basic needs
There are over 100 widows who live in the areas in and around the town of Sagar, in conditions of extreme poverty. The organization helps such widows purchase livestock - a goat, cow or a buffalo. These animals provide a source income for the widowed woman. A grant of Rs.5000 to Rs.10000 is given depending on the need of the widows and the livestock she wishes to purchase. The widow uses an equal share of her money in the purchases and also pays for the insurance of the livestock, which is close to 13% of the cost of purchase. In 2014-15 the program was extended to include needy women, who weren't widows as well. The scope of the grant was also increased beyond buying livestock. Women could purchase items to set up a petty shop in their village as an income generation activity.
