VHAT started as a state-level network of NGOs within the state of Tripura with the aim to build the capacity of the member organizations as well as the different sectors of the society. In 2015-2016 Mr.Benudhar Acharya was the President of VHAT. He is working as an Officer in State Bank of India. But since his student life, he has had a great interest in the welfare activities. He formed an organization named Bodhan Social Welfare Organization in his hometown Kowhai. The organization has been working for the promotion of health and environment status, primary education, empowerment of the downtrodden, gender equity and promotion of care and support for the children in need. VHAT initiated their Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Programme for the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in a few blocks of west and south districts of Tripura in 2007. Anwesha Child Protection Centre (ACPC) was registered under the Juvenile Justice Act on August 1, 2011. They work to achieve the goal of making health a reality for the people of Tripura.

Regular access to healthy and nutritious food
While implementing the CHILDLINE Project, Voluntary Health Association of Tripura realized that childhood facilities for marginalized children are very inadequate and so Anwesha Child Protection Centre (ACPC) was initiated a need-based Home. It was set up for children who were orphaned, runaway, abandoned, victims of violence, and rejected by parents. ACPC is a home where every child has a history of repression, deprivation, and abuses. VHAT provides the children shelter, education, medical support, and vocational training. The children are enrolled in the Government Schools outside the home. Additional coaching to help them cope is given. They are given balanced nutrition includes rice, dal, egg, fish chicken, milk, vegetables, banana/other seasonal fruits, snacks etc. With balanced food, care and guidance the girls concentrate on their education. When you donate to this program, you can see a child like Sampili grow up healthy and happy through her childhood.
