We bring you all the trends that are set to take center stage when it comes to the “new normal” Indian wedding.

#1. Small is the new big!

When it comes to planning, the buzzwords to remember are intimate, small, and private. COVID19 has ensured that the big fat Indian wedding goes on a big fat sabbatical. 1000 people celebrations are not even a conceivable reality anymore. So when you sit down to make your Pinterest board and start planning, think small and special.

#2. Time to go natural

One of the biggest décor trends for 2021 is “all things natural”. Above all, the pandemic has ensured that open spaces become the preferred venue options for weddings, and décor that works in sync with nature will be the way forward for the coming year. Lots of greens and foliage, flowers and fairy lights are the way forward.

#3. It’s all about putting the environment first

This is one trend that picked steam in 2020 and we hope will continue forever after. Going eco-friendly with wedding celebrations translates to all aspects of wedding planning. From going digital with invites to no single-use plastics, donation of extra food, using local décor elements and responsible waste disposal are all becoming big with millennial couples.

#4. Get ready to loosen up!

As an extension of the above, relaxed and louche is another trend that is going to dominate the coming year. From wardrobes to attitudes, small and simple weddings are best enhanced with an easy vibe. From outfits that are higher on style than bling, to even open seating, buffet dining, and more… it’s all about rolling up your sleeves and letting go.

#5. High Tech has arrived!

Technology and the phenomenal role it can play in enhancing a wedding and bringing down costs was probably the biggest wedding revelation of 2020. And this trend is only set to accelerate in the coming year. From e-invites to wedding websites and live streams, it’s going to be all about using technology to ensure all guests who can’t attend can still be a part of the celebration.

#6. Let it glow

Concept lighting is going to be huge for 2021. A key décor trend, this comes into focus as outdoor weddings become the norm. Lighting can and will play a much bigger role as celebrations shift to the outside. From spotlights to dangling bulbs and canopies made of light strings, it’s all about letting things shine.

#7. Time to travel

Destination weddings may have been the most hit part of weddings this year, but they are set to make a huge comeback in 2021, albeit with a twist. From fancy locales across the globe, destination weddings will now be all about finding fancy and (safe) resorts and venues close to the couple’s city. With smaller wedding parties, it will become possible for a lot of people to afford destination weddings and enjoy intimacy!
